Stephanie Pelletier, a Self-Advocate, and current Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, lives in Fort Kent, Maine explained:

If I had a chance to go to Washington D.C. and talk to Democrats and Republicans, I would say that we need to eliminate the Marriage Penalty because it hasn’t been updated for 50 years. People that are with Disabilities get married and they lose their SSI benefits or their Social Security money.

They should care about it because what if they had kids with disabilities and they want to get married. We need to keep on going and pushing it forward.

In closing I would like to say, thank you for reading my blog.
