Hi this Jon

On July 1st, 2019, Kile, Stephanie, Mike Labreque and myself went to Disability Pride Day in Augusta.  That was also the day that Supported Decision Making went into effect in the state of Maine.

Speaking Up For Us had a table at Disability Pride Day and the four of us spoke to a lot of people that day.

WLBZ 2 (Now Newscenter Maine) from Bangor was there and interviewed Kile.  He said a lot of good things about people with Disabilities.

We saw a lot of vendors there and DRM served us a pizza lunch.

Abbott Philson was the chair of the SUFU Board of directors, and he spoke up front.  I was standing next to Abbott and told him what a good job he did.
If you get the chance to go you will have a lot of fun at the Disability Pride Day Event.  I think it’s a really good event to go.  It’s representing who you are.   You are representing yourself and everyone else who has a disability.   This is a great opportunity to meet others from around the state of Maine.  This is also a time to see their allies and meet the different people who work for them.  I think it’s a beneficial time to ask questions that you may not otherwise get asked.

You will be Surprised how many people go to the Disability Pride Day Event every year.

We invite you to come see us at Disability Pride Day on July 8th 2022!

P.S. here is a video of that day from 2019:
